A self-taught artist who lives in Paris, Adrien Patout says he draws inspiration from the “positive energy of Terry Richardson’s trashy world”, and indeed Patout’s grotesques do share something in common with Richardson’s photographs. “My main interest is the human body and how people deal with it (piercing, tattoos, esthetical surgery, haircuts, fashion),” Patout says. “It’s about life, death, love or sex, and how the body, as a media, feels the gap between our inner feelings and the outside world.” To view more of Patout’s work, visit adrienpatout.com.
