On Friday, November 9, our friends at the Bakehouse Art Complex (the Wynwood facility where we hosted our biggest Sketchy Party to date) are presenting their annual art raffle fundraiser, Lucky You!, now in its fifth year.

Video from last year’s Lucky You!

The event will feature the work of more than 70 local artists, live music by AMTRAC, a special Lucky Lounge for BAC Members and VIPs sponsored by Chivas Regal, wine by Jordan Vineyard and Winery, food, and Roxanne Vargas, host of “6 in the Mix” and entertainment reporter on NBC 6 South Florida. Attendees can buy a raffle ticket for $10 for a chance to win an original work of art by one of the BAC’s 70 resident artists. The proceeds from Lucky You! provide essential funding for the organization’s exhibitions and special events.

We have a pair of VIP passes to give away to one lucky Sketchy Miami fan. To enter to win, tell us one thing that makes you feel fortunate in the comment section of this post. We will announce the winner on the Sketchy Miami Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon. UPDATE: And the winner is …

Until then, you can get full details on Lucky You! from the Facebook event page and check out photos from last year’s fundraiser.

I feel fortunate to wake up with a sense of purpose each day. To be able to support others and be present in my daily interactions with the people I love. I feel lucky to see a smile, to feel my hear full, to be near the ocean, to be able to feed a hungry belly (including my own). I feel lucky to be surrounded by artists and to have the opportunity to live creatively through my actions and choices.

I am thankful for all things in my life that have shaped me into a well-rounded, insightful and compassionate human being. While I am thankful for the “good” things in life, I am most grateful for my challenges and those situations that have tested my endurance as it has been in those moments that the beauty within myself and love for others has been truly released from my shell and has wholly connected me to the universe.
